Commercial Door Safety Tips

Commercial doors can be the largest moving component in your facility. Keeping employees safe from these heavy commercial doors is vital. Here are a few tips to help your employees and customers prevent injury from your commercial door.

  1. Never walk under or stand below a moving commercial door for any reason. It can result in injury or death. This includes keeping hands, arms, feet, and legs away from any section of the door while it is in the process of moving.

  2. If contact is made between the door and equipment, contact a professional to evaluate the door operation. A commercial door expert can identify any safety hazards and repair the door if required.

  3. Never DIY service or repair your commercial door. Be sure to hire a professional to maintain commercial doors and motor operators. Proper maintenance will ensure your commercial door continues to operate in a safe manner. The springs and cables of commercial doors are very dangerous. Inexperienced individuals can be seriously injured in an attempt to repair these operations.

  4. Do not operate a damaged roll-up door.

  5. Never let any safety devices be removed from a roll-up door for any reason, if a safety device is damaged halt use of that door immediately.

We hope these tips help keep your business and employees safe. If you have a question or concern about how you can add additional safety measures to your commercial doors give one of our General Door estimators a call at 833-GEN-DOOR or contact us at info@generaldoorservice.com we’d love to help.
