ABOUT US

Gene W. Ganas III

Gene W. Ganas III, co-owner and President of General Door Service, is not afraid of challenges. He is an accomplished hiker and mountaineer who has scaled the tallest mountains in Southern California—some several times over—and hiked Mt. Whitney to the summit in a single day. Gene brings the same focus on achievement to General Door Service, his new company.

The commercial door industry is nothing new to Gene. He began his career as an apprentice to his father - Gene W. Ganas Jr. - more than twelve years ago. In 2008 when the economy took a steep nosedive, Gene decided to further his education to learn more skills. School led to an exploration of other fields, including working for Toyota as a sales associate. Gene returned to the commercial door industry when an opportunity to return as a sales representative came up. For the following three years, he threw himself into the job, learning everything he could to be the consummate commercial door sales representative, including taking business courses at community college, all with the goal of one day opening up his own commercial door company. Working in the field gave Gene insight into how he would like to run his own company. It wasn’t long before he began to create the business plan and recruit business partners for General Door Service. Nine months later, General Door Service opened its doors (pun intended) and started delivering five-star service to its first clients.

When he’s not delivering top rank service to General Door Service clients, Gene, along with his core group of friends, known as “canyoneers,” hike in rough terrain seeking out steep canyon cliffs, some as high as 300-feet, off which they can rappel with ropes and pulleys. He is also a world traveler who has spent many months back-packing across Europe, living abroad and teaching English in a foreign country.

Justin T. Ganas

Justin T. Ganas, co-owner and Vice President of General Door Service, joined the family trade in commercial doors as a young man much like his brother Gene; beginning an apprenticeship with his father in 2007. In addition to learning how to handle every possible contingency by shadowing his father during emergency calls, Justin learned integrity, respect, problem-solving and work ethic under his father’s influence and leadership. After his three-year apprenticeship, Justin explored fields other than commercial doors by taking jobs in other areas of construction. In 2013, Justin returned to the commercial door business as a foreman, quickly rising to the top as a lead foreman, whose responsibilities included training others in the trade. Justin believes “through [his] experience, [he] has learned to not let a day go by without feeling grateful to have the opportunity to do what [he] loves.”

Justin enjoys spending time with his wife and son and volunteering at his church as well as recreational activities such as dirt biking, hiking, running, and grilling. Justin’s goal is to build a business with his brother, Co-owner and President, Gene W. Ganas III that reflects integrity, value and character.

The story of General Door Service spans three generations starting when Raymond Chasco, Justin Ganas and Gene Ganas’ grandfather, first opened his commercial door company in Southern California with his brother Phil 35 years ago. This family link to the past makes General Door Service more than just a job for Gene and Justin; beginning their own business in the industry pioneered by their family is also a dream come true as well as an opportunity for them to continue their father and grandfather’s legacy.
