Over the past few months General Door has been preparing to enter into Riverside California’s yearly Young Entrepreneur Award contest. This involved writing a detailed application which outlines who we are, what we stand for, and what we are trying to accomplish. Next, a face to face interview consisted of me being questioned by three panel judges about the business and our application. Apparently the judges liked what they reviewed since they selected us as this year's winner! We couldn’t be happier or more proud to represent this fine city!

The award was handed out at Good Morning Riverside on June 14th, 2018, an event held once a month and is attended by 200-300 people involved with the City of Riverside. Vice President Justin Ganas and I were invited on stage to accept the award and deliver a speech. I used the opportunity to thank all the people who helped us get there and kept it short to avoid being ushered offstage by the “courtesy music”. Part of the award is a check from the City of Riverside for $3,000, which we will use to buy tools and other necessary supplies.

At the end of the ceremony we shook hands with all the top members of the city council, including the Mayor. We had some very nice people congratulate us on this achievement. It truly is an honor to be selected by the City of Riverside for this award. What it means to us is that the city believes we best exemplify what it means to be young entrepreneurs and a leader in the City of Riverside. Our goal is to not just live up to those expectations but to exceed them on as many different levels as we can. We want to be a leader in not just operating a successful business that is fair and trustworthy but being an example of what a business can do for their employees and community.

We thank the City of Riverside and Riverside's Chamber of Commerce for this amazing opportunity and look forward to working with them over the next year!
